Moscow – Sudanhorizon

Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Al-Tijani Siraj, debriefed on Friday Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, on the latest developments in Sudan, particularly the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the cities of El Fasher and Bara.

He highlighted the horrific crimes perpetrated by the militia, including murder, rape, and displacement, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and established human norms and values.

The Ambassador called for the militia to be designated a terrorist organization and for pressure to be exerted to halt external military and financial support for it, especially from the United Arab Emirates.

He praised Russia’s supportive stance towards the Sudan, its condemnation of the horrific crimes committed by the terrorist militia, and its consistent emphasis on the importance of Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in its internal affairs.

The Sudanese diplomat also affirmed the high level of coordination between the two countries in international forums, particularly the United Nations Security Council.

For his part, Mr. Leonid Slutsky expressed his country’s condemnation of the horrific and appalling violations committed by the RSF, and their solidarity with the victims.

He explained that the Foreign Relations Committee was aware of the violations and inhumane practices, describing them as unacceptable.

He stressed the importance of preserving the legitimate institutions of the state, clarifying that the stability of Sudan is important not only for Sudan but for the entire region.

The Chairman of the Duma’s Foreign Relations Committee commended the efforts made to strengthen relations between the two countries through the bilateral events that were recently held.
