5 People Dead and 265 Houses Collapsed in the Northern State

Five people lost their lives in the Northern State after houses collapsed on them and electrocution due to the floods and rains that hit the state in the past few days, while 265 houses in the state completely collapsed from the second half of July until the fourth of August, according to estimates by local authorities.

The state’s Ministry of Health said in a press release, a copy of which was received by the Sudanhorizon news website, that 2145 houses were partially collapsed, 2418 families were damaged, and 12093 people were affected by the torrential rains and floods that swept through large parts of the state.

According to what the state ministry reported, 47 people were injured with varying injuries, which included 9 people who were stung by scorpions, and 13 government facilities were damaged.

The Emergency Management report revealed the lack of means of movement for rapid response teams in emergency situations, the scarcity of scorpion serums in health centers, and the scarcity of chlorine powder used to purify drinking water.
