The Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa Ali, has requested Turkey’s assistance in providing Sudan with quantities of fertilisers and production inputs, notably improved seeds and fertilisers.
This came during a meeting between the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, and the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yıldız, in the administrative capital of Port Sudan on Tuesday. The meeting discussed areas of mutual cooperation between the project management and Turkey in agricultural fields.
The Governor of the Gezira Scheme briefed the Turkish ambassador on the Scheme’s current situation and the extent of the damage inflicted on its fixed and movable infrastructure.
Mustafa pointed out the strategic partnership between the Gezira scheme management and the Turkish company group Trakia, which resulted in the creation of the Gez-Trakia Company. This company manufactures agricultural machinery and accessories at its headquarters in Al-Hasaheisa and started its operations and marketing to farmers in the Scheme before the war.
In response, the Turkish ambassador promised that his country would support the Gezira Scheme to compensate for the damage to its infrastructure caused by the war and support the farmers’ efforts in the Scheme.
