Sovereignty Council Decides to Reconstitute Humanitarian Emergencies Council

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued a decision to reconstitute the Joint National Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies on Wednesday, headed by Lieutenant General Al-Sadig Ismail Mahmoud, and the membership of each of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Health, Social Development, Federal Governance, Agriculture and Forests, Culture, Information and Transport, in addition to representatives of the competent agencies, institutions and relevant bodies.

The committee is responsible for ensuring the technical and logistical readiness of the crossings regarding facilities and workers and close coordination between the ministries, bodies, and competent institutions to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid. It is also responsible for developing detailed lists that determine the country’s humanitarian needs based on the state’s higher policies and plans.

The committee is also responsible for determining the national strategic objectives of the humanitarian response plan and sharing them with the United Nations organisations and national and international organisations, preparing a matrix of projects to be implemented and their costs, approving them with the United Nations organisations and their partners, and following up on their implementation.

It is noteworthy that the Joint National Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies was headed by Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Sovereignty Council, and that its new Chairman, Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail, is the former director of the office of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, who was appointed several months ago as a presidential envoy.
