Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, chaired the 9th National High Coordination Committee (NHCC) meeting with the United Nations Mission.
According to a press release by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media office, the meeting reviewed reports on Sudan’s issues in the UN Security Council. These included the circumstances surrounding the use of the Russian veto and the activities of the Panel of Experts concerning Resolution 1591. The meeting emphasised the need to counter misinformation and hostile propaganda against the Sudanese government’s efforts. It highlighted that despite Sudan’s substantial efforts to comply with international humanitarian law, some international organisations release misleading statements that fail to reflect the realities on the ground.
The meeting also discussed the importance of shedding light on the violations committed by militias against civilians, including the bombing of displacement camps and cities such as El Fasher and Omdurman.
