Zain Launches Vocational Training in El-Obeid, Expanding Initiatives to Empower Sudanese Youth
Sudanhorizon – Follow-ups
Zain will launch the practical training phase in El-Obeid on Sunday, 8 November, as part of the third edition of its Vocational and Craft Training for Youth project. The programme is being implemented in cooperation with the Technical Generation Centre for Training and Human Resources Development in North Kordofan State. It marks the start of training for participants who have completed the project’s registration and enrolment procedures.
The launch of training in El-Obeid carries particular significance as an extension of Zain’s community presence in the city. Zain is reportedly the only Sudanese company to have reached El-Obeid following the recent events and implemented a community initiative of this scale, aimed at equipping young people with professional and vocational skills. The move reflects the company’s commitment to reaching local communities and delivering development initiatives beyond major cities and relatively stable areas.
The start of training in El-Obeid comes as programmes in six other Sudanese cities approach their final stages: Wad Madani, Omdurman, Karari, Kassala, Sennar and Hafir Mesho. The third edition aims to train approximately 1,000 young men and women, providing them with technical and vocational skills to improve their employment prospects and open up wider opportunities in production, self-employment and entrepreneurship. The initiative also contributes to the reconstruction phase by preparing a skilled and professionally trained workforce.
The launch in El-Obeid builds on the project’s achievements in previous editions, which benefited more than 2,000 young men and women. It also underscores Zain’s commitment to expanding the initiative geographically, reaching more Sudanese youth and investing in their capabilities.
