Minnawi Accepts Resignation of His Deputy, Mohamed Eissa Aliyu, from the Darfur Regional Government
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Ahmed Ishaq Shanab, Minister of Information and official spokesperson for the Darfur Regional Government, announced that the Governor of the region, Minni Minnawi, has accepted the resignation of Dr. Mohamed Eissa Aliyu from his position as Deputy Governor, following extensive consultations.
In statements to the press on Wednesday, Shanab explained that Aliyu’s resignation stemmed from various circumstances. He noted that Aliyu had submitted his resignation to the Governor four times previously, before it was formally accepted today, following careful deliberation and consideration of all related cirumstances.
The spokesperson emphasized that the decision to accept the resignation is part of an effort to address administrative and institutional matters, ensuring the continued functioning of the regional government and the fulfillment of its responsibilities toward the citizens—particularly given the exceptional circumstances currently affecting the country, and Darfur region in particular.
It is worth noting that Eissa Aliyu was appointed Deputy Governor of the Darfur region in early 2022, and during his tenure, he contributed to carrying out the tasks and responsibilities associated with the work of the regional government.
