Lusaka – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese pavilion at the sixth edition of the Annual Diplomatic Entertainment Exhibition, held at the exhibition grounds in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, on Saturday, attracted significant attention and stood out among the participating countries, according to a source at the Sudanese Embassy.
Sudan’s first participation proved to be one of the biggest surprises at this year’s exhibition, which witnessed intense international competition with 31 countries participating through their embassies and consulates accredited to the Republic of Zambia.
The annual festival, organized by the Zambian Ministry of Tourism, was held under the patronage and with the high-level attendance of Evans Muhanga, Permanent Secretary of the Zambian Ministry of Tourism, who attended the event as the official guest of honor.
Although this was Sudan’s first appearance at the event since its launch six years ago, the Sudanese pavilion broke the country’s absence with an ambitious organizational effort. The Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Zambia took full responsibility for organizing and overseeing the participation, in coordination and cooperation with members of the Sudanese community residing in Lusaka. The Sudanese community made a particularly strong and distinguished contribution during both the preparations and the event itself, especially the Women’s Secretariat of the Sudanese Association and community, whose efforts and creative contributions played a major role in showcasing the finer details of Sudanese heritage and professionally managing the traditional clothing and food sections, earning widespread praise.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Sadiq Ali Sayed Ahmed, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Zambia, said the secret behind the pavilion’s success and its transformation into a major destination for exhibition visitors was the sincere desire to demonstrate Sudan’s active and influential presence despite all the challenges. Dr. Al-Sadiq particularly praised the pioneering and distinguished role of Sudanese women in the diaspora, represented by the Women’s Secretariat, which led the cultural, heritage, and hospitality aspects of the pavilion with dedication and perseverance. He affirmed that Sudan’s first participation aimed to open new and broader horizons for bilateral cooperation with the friendly Republic of Zambia in the economic, investment, and tourism sectors, while also strengthening cultural ties.
Dr. Al-Sadiq added that the exhibition also provided a vital platform for engaging with the 31 participating brotherly and friendly countries, discussing ways to strengthen trade partnerships, exchange expertise, and highlight Sudan’s vast potential and strategic exports amid this high-level diplomatic gathering.
The Sudanese pavilion stood out for its distinctive design, dividing the exhibition space into several key sections that attracted record attendance. These included agricultural products, folklore and cultural heritage, traditional clothing, and traditional foods and meals.
The event concluded with special praise from the guest of honor, the Permanent Secretary of the Zambian Ministry of Tourism, who visited the Sudanese pavilion and expressed his great admiration for the high standard and rich cultural and economic content presented by Sudan during its first participation. He expressed his hope that Sudan would maintain its distinguished presence and that economic and cultural relations between the two countries would continue to develop in the near future.
