IGAD Intends to Open Cross-Border Regional Economic Corridors

The High-Level Private Sector Forum of the African Business Council was held today, Thursday, in El Alamein, Egypt, under the theme: “The Private Sector Driving Africa’s Transformation: From Vision to Investment.” The forum aimed to advance the “Agenda 2063” objectives through industrialization, innovation, the digital economy, maximizing value addition in the minerals sector, agribusiness, tourism, connectivity, health infrastructure, and the mitigation of investment risks.
Mohie El-Din Al-Tohami Taha, Director of Economic Cooperation and Regional Integration at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), called for joint coordination to launch cross-border regional corridors. He emphasized the need for a shared mechanism to reduce private investment risks within the region and for unified efforts to achieve shared African economic integration.
