Finance Ministry Backs Solar Power for Agricultural Electrification

The Ministry of Finance has announced its commitment to providing solar energy systems for the electrification of agricultural and irrigation projects as a strategic objective aimed at reducing production costs and ensuring a stable energy supply.

Speaking during a meeting with the Governor of the Northern State at the ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr. Gibril Ibrahim emphasized the government’s commitment to providing the operational energy required to ensure the success of wheat cultivation in the Northern State during the upcoming winter growing season.

He renewed the federal government’s commitment to achieving the state’s agricultural objectives, noting the continued efforts to complete the electricity interconnection project with Egypt amid the ongoing development of economic relations between the two sisterly countries.

Ibrahim also pledged to transfer the previously designated share of revenues actually collected by the central government to the states through the Federal Governance Ministry, while emphasizing the importance of supporting national projects across various sectors through full coordination among the relevant authorities.

For his part, the Governor of the Northern State, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Abdel Rahman Abdel Hamid, described the current security situation in the state as reassuring. He stressed the need to support and upgrade various sectors in the state, including energy, agriculture, national roads, healthcare services, and education.
