Finance Ministry Signs SMS Service Agreement with MTN Sudan

The Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement with MTN Sudan to provide Short Message Service (SMS) facilities, with the aim of streamlining procedures and supporting the objectives of the state-owned electronic collection and payment system, Eesaly.

According to a statement issued by the ministry on Sunday, the agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Ali Juma, while Sami Abdullah Khalid, Acting Managing Director of MTN Sudan, signed on behalf of the company. The signing was attended by the Ministry of Finance’s Legal Adviser, Dr. Amir Ibrahim, and representatives of the ministry’s Information Technology and Communications Department.

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Ali Juma, said, “We hope that signing this agreement will facilitate all the services required by the ministry, enable access to all locations, empower the relevant authorities to provide financial services and transactions to citizens, and further advance the country’s digital transformation.”

For his part, Acting Managing Director of MTN Sudan, Sami Abdullah Khalid, expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and MTN Sudan. He noted that through this service, all citizens using MTN SIM cards will be able to benefit from the services provided through the electronic collection and payment system and track all procedures and transactions they have completed through the Eesaly system.

The acting managing director expressed hope that the agreement would mark the beginning of a strategic partnership and continued cooperation between the two sides to serve the country and its citizens and advance the public interest across Sudan.

In the same context, Tamadur Al-Aqid, a representative of the ministry’s General Department of Information Technology and Communications, said the agreement represents an important step toward ensuring the stability of SIM-card services and providing SMS services to citizens through the Eesaly system.

She added that the cooperation would help improve the speed and reliability of communication, enhance the efficiency of financial and electronic services in the public interest, and support the pace of digital transformation and the development of services.
