Al-Burhan and Agar Joined Sudanese Christian in Prayers for Peace

The Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, accompanied by his deputy, Malik Agar Air, attended a celebration on Saturday organized by the Sudanese Council of Churches at the Khartoum International Fair.
Held under the theme “Come with One Heart… Together We Pray for Sudan,” the event saw broad participation from clergy, leaders, and representatives of various Christian denominations and churches in Sudan.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council stated that all Abrahamic religions call for love, peace, and brotherhood, while rejecting division and discord and promoting virtue. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and solidarity, and the need to stand against anyone inciting hatred among the Sudanese people or disrupting security.
Al-Burhan affirmed that this celebration embodies the reality of Sudan as one country and one people united behind a single army, expressing his hope for the realization of security, stability, and peace in the nation.
He noted that praying for peace is a noble value essential for spreading a spirit of love and tranquility, adding, “All religions call for love and peace.”
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council commended the clergy and pastors from all denominations, valuing their sincere and heartfelt prayers for God to protect Sudan and its people.
For his part, the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Malik Agar Air, highlighted the event’s significance in embodying national unity. He noted the participation of various Christian denominations in organizing the prayer and emphasized that peace is a fundamental human and religious value shared across different faiths. Furthermore, the head of the Sudan Council of Churches invited the attendees to observe a moment of silence for those who lost their lives, honoring the sacrifices of those who made it possible for Sudanese people to gather once again in the capital, Khartoum.
He also expressed gratitude to the Sudanese government and the Chairman of the Sovereign Council for their efforts in managing the country’s affairs and working to restore security and stability. Additionally, he addressed Sudanese citizens abroad, urging them to return home and to reject division and fragmentation.
The event featured prayers and supplications for the prevalence of peace, security, and stability across Sudan, for the alleviation of the Sudanese people’s suffering, and for the country’s recovery from the effects of the war, alongside prayers for Sudan’s unity and social cohesion.
During the prayers, church leaders expressed their support for the Sudanese government’s efforts to manage the country and restore stability, and prayed that God would grant the state leadership the strength, will, and wisdom to guide Sudan toward peace, security, and stability.
