Agrochemicals Division Condemns Establishment of Illicit Pesticide and Fertilizer Factory in Kassala

The Sudanese Agrochemicals Division of the National Chamber of Importers has condemned the crime of establishing a major facility for the adulteration and counterfeiting of agricultural pesticides and fertilizers in the city of Kassala.

In a statement issued Wednesday the Division called for swift and decisive justice against the perpetrators. It also urged the relevant judicial and security authorities to dismantle these illicit operations and impose the maximum deterrent penalties on anyone proven to be involved, complicit, or facilitating these criminal activities.

The Division described the activity as “an organized, cross-border act of sabotage and an assault on national economic security.” It stated that it has been closely monitoring the details of this heinous, organized crime—recently uncovered by the security unit and the General Intelligence Service in Kassala State—which involved the discovery of the large-scale facility for adulterating and counterfeiting agricultural pesticides and fertilizers.

The statement noted the discovery of massive quantities of pesticides and fertilizers—looted during the war—representing the largest instance of commercial fraud, counterfeiting, and smuggling the country has witnessed in recent times. It characterized this act as a blatant assault on national security and a severe blow to economic and environmental stability, causing harm to humans, animals, agriculture, and the soil itself.

The division’s statement further emphasized that these acts of systematic counterfeiting, smuggling, and fraud constitute more than mere legal infractions; they are deliberate, cross-border acts of sabotage aimed at destroying the national economy, the local environment, and public health in pursuit of illicit gains at the expense of the nation’s interests and the future of its generations.
