Sudan’s FM Inaugurates Consulate General Projects in Saudi Arabia

Sudanese Minister for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem, addressed the inauguration ceremony for the development and renovation projects at the new headquarters of the Consulate General of the Republic of Sudan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday evening.
The ceremony was attended by the Sudanese Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Dr. Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim, a number of diplomats including Ambassador Farid bin Saad Al-Shehri, Director General of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs branch in the Makkah region, the deans of the Arab and African diplomatic corps, several heads of diplomatic missions to the Kingdom, and prominent members of the Sudanese community.
The FM praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Sudan, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, for their attention to Sudanese affairs.
The Minister expressed Sudan’s appreciation and gratitude to the Saudi people for the warm hospitality extended to the Sudanese community, praying for the Kingdom and its people, and expressing his hope that all bilateral agreements between the two countries would be implemented, thus strengthening the fraternal relations and joint cooperation between Sudan and the Kingdom.
For his part, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy commended the Sudanese community’s solidarity with the Consulate General in Jeddah, which contributed to the celebration of the inauguration of the new consulate building. He emphasized that this achievement, at this time, underscores the continued progress towards achieving sustainable development goals both within the country and abroad.
Ambassador Kamal Ali Osman, the Consul General of the Republic of Sudan in Jeddah, stated that the inauguration of the project marks the beginning of a new phase in developing the consular work environment and enhancing the level of services provided to citizens. He pointed out that this includes preparing the premises and establishing and equipping a modern hall for visitors and public events, thereby enhancing performance efficiency and meeting the aspirations of the Sudanese community in the Western areas of the kingdom.
He added that the project represents a significant step towards establishing a modern institutional presence for the consulate and transforming the new headquarters into a showcase befitting Sudan and the distinguished fraternal relations between Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Kamal explained that the previously announced development works aim to enhance the quality of consular services and provide a more suitable environment for visitors and staff, thus contributing to improved performance and services.
He added that the consulate project represents an important addition to consular work and reflects a positive image of Sudan.

It is worth noting that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation participated in the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, during which a new Secretary-General, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania, was elected.
