Sovereign Council Chairman Awards Egyptian Ambassador Order of the Two Niles, First Class

Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Wednesday awarded Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan Hany Salah the Order of the Two Niles, First Class, marking the end of his tenure in Sudan.

In a press statement, Ambassador Hany Salah expressed his happiness at meeting the Sovereignty Council chairman at the same location where he presented his credentials four years ago. He said the recapture of the Republican Palace represents a symbol of Sudan’s national sovereignty.

The Egyptian ambassador noted that Sudan faces numerous challenges but has also achieved significant successes and accomplishments, foremost among them the restoration of control over the Republican Palace.

Salah said that receiving the Order of the Two Niles represents an honor for the Arab Republic of Egypt, praising the historic and longstanding ties between the two brotherly peoples.

He also revealed that he had delivered a written message to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council from his “brother,” Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, concerning ways to advance and develop bilateral cooperation. The message also reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Sudan during the critical period it is experiencing.

The Egyptian ambassador added that, in his new position as Assistant Egyptian Foreign Minister for Sudan and South Sudan Affairs, he would work to build on what had been accomplished during his previous tenure. He expressed hope that the coming phase would be one of peace, reconstruction, and development.
