Sudanese-Egyptian Talks on Economic Cooperation

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, met today, Sunday, with Jibril Ibrahim, Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, to discuss ways to develop and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations in various financial and commercial sectors.

The two sides emphasized the deep historical and fraternal ties that bind the two countries, focusing on exchanging expertise between institutions concerned with financial policies, stimulating investment flows, and removing obstacles to the movement of trucks and goods to increase the volume of trade.

The meeting also explored opportunities to expand joint work on infrastructure rehabilitation and development projects, particularly in the roads and transportation sectors, in addition to strengthening partnerships in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, to fully utilize Egyptian capabilities and expertise in supporting early recovery and reconstruction plans in Sudan.

Abdel-Aty reviewed the ongoing arrangements for organizing the first edition of the African Business Summit within the framework of the El Alamein Business Forum in Africa, emphasizing its role as a platform for strengthening continental partnerships and investments, and noting the importance of Sudanese participation in supporting development and reconstruction efforts.

The Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions of Sudan, rejecting any attempts to divide the country or establish parallel entities

He stressed the need to reach a national, Sudanese-owned political settlement that preserves the resources of the Sudanese people and achieves their security and stability.
