Livestock Ministry: Meat Exports Are Not Under Our Jurisdiction
Sudanhorizon – Hala Hamza
The Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries has issued a media clarification in response to reports circulating across some media outlets regarding Sudanese meat exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The ministry stated that the meat export portfolio does not fall within its primary jurisdiction, explaining that the authorities directly responsible for the matter are the Ministry of Trade, the Central Bank of Sudan, and the Chamber of Commerce.
The ministry added that it is currently working diligently to rehabilitate and modernize slaughterhouses in accordance with international health and veterinary standards and requirements. It noted that the rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by September 1, 2026, with the aim of improving export efficiency and ensuring the quality of livestock products.
