White Nile State Opens Book, Fine Arts and Heritage Exhibition

The Acting Minister of Education and Guidance in White Nile State, Ismail Al-Arbab, on Wednesday inaugurated the Book, Fine Arts and Heritage Exhibition at the Kosti National Theatre. The exhibition is organised by the state’s Culture and Information Sector in collaboration with the Sudanese Association for Knowledge Documentation at Imam Mahdi University and Dar Al-Musawarat Publishing House.

Held under the theme “Kosti Reads and Creates,” the exhibition runs from 29 July to 3 August 2026. The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from the state’s cultural sector.

Haider Abdelrahim, Director of the Culture and Information Sector in White Nile State, said the exhibition forms part of the sector’s cultural programme and reflects its partnership with the Sudanese Association for Knowledge Documentation at Imam Mahdi University.

The exhibition features a variety of sections, including a book fair, a fine arts gallery, an awareness pavilion highlighting the dangers of drug abuse, and a children’s art section. Organisers said the event aims to revitalise cultural activities in White Nile State and provide the public with greater access to books, art and cultural heritage.

Dr. Hassan Abdelrahman, President of the Sudanese Association for Knowledge Documentation at Imam Mahdi University, said the association is dedicated to documenting and preserving Sudan’s cultural heritage. Through partnerships with official and cultural institutions, it seeks to promote knowledge and raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding the nation’s heritage for future generations.
