Livestock Ministry Announces Six Slaughterhouses Ready to Resume Meat Exports

Sudan’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris, announced on Tuesday that six qualified slaughterhouses are ready to resume exports of red meat to Gulf countries and other international markets.

During a meeting with the General Administration of Quarantine and Meat Inspection, the undersecretary also revealed that the Al-Sahil Slaughterhouse is expected to become operational in the near future.

He said the ministry remains committed to complying with international veterinary and health standards governing meat exports, emphasizing that the necessary infrastructure is in place to restart export operations.

Al-Sheikh stressed the importance of adhering to quality and food safety standards, noting that developing the country’s quarantine facilities and slaughterhouses will contribute to strengthening food security, supporting economic development, increasing production and productivity, and enhancing the competitiveness of Sudanese meat products in international markets.
