Finance Ministry Approves Customs Fees Reduction for Hybrid Cars
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Sudan’s Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim has approved a proposal submitted by the Customs Authority to add hybrid (electric and fuel) vehicles to the list of vehicles eligible for customs fees reductions, extending the policies previously adopted regarding electric vehicles.
According to the decision, electric vehicles will continue to be subject to a 10% import duty, with the additional duty eliminated. The additional duty imposed on hybrid vehicles, which ranged between 30% and 40%, has also been removed.
These vehicles will now be subject only to the import duty and value-added tax (VAT). This will contribute to reducing costs for importers and beneficiaries and encourage the adoption of energy-efficient vehicles.
The decision comes within the framework of joint efforts aimed at modernizing customs policies to keep pace with economic and environmental developments and promote the shift towards more sustainable means of transportation, in line with the state’s directions for economic reform and sustainable development.
