Egypt Makes History, Qualifies for Round of 16 for the First Time

The Egyptian national team, the pharaohs, has qualified for the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, organized by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, for the first time in its history.
The Pharaohs reached the Round of 16 after defeating Australia 4-2 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw after extra time, at Dallas Stadium on Friday.
Egypt is the second Arab team to qualify for the Round of 16 in this World Cup, after Morocco, which defeated the Netherlands.
The Egyptian team will play its next match against the winner of the match between the defending champions, Argentina, and Cape Verde, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 7.
