West Darfur Governor: Liberation of Kulbus the Beginning of the Campaign to Reclaim the Entire State
Special Report – Sudanhorizon – Mariam Abasher
The Governor of West Darfur State, General Bahr al-Din Adam Karama, affirmed that the liberation of the city of Kulbus represents a decisive turning point in the battle to reclaim West Darfur and a practical declaration of the collapse of the Rapid Support Forces militia’s influence in the state. He emphasized that what was achieved on Monday was not the end of the battle, but rather the beginning of a new phase characterized by complete victory and the restoration of state authority over every inch of Sudanese territory.
In a statement to Sudanhorizon news website, the Governor said: “Our armed forces, the joint forces, and the supporting forces have proven that they possess the will, capability, and initiative. The recapture of Kulbus confirms that the militia has no option left but defeat and flight, and its military project is crumbling before the steadfastness of our forces and their belief in the justice of their cause.” He added: “We will not give the militia a chance to regroup or assemble. Military operations will continue at an even higher pace until the last city and village are liberated from the scourge of rebellion, and until the Sudanese flag flies high over all of West Darfur State and every inch of the homeland.”
He explained that the city of Kulbus, by virtue of its strategic location, will serve as an advanced base for upcoming military operations and a launching point for tightening the noose around the remaining militia pockets. He affirmed that the hour of complete liberation has already begun and that retreat is not an option until total victory is achieved.
The governor saluted the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the joint forces, and the supporting forces, saying: “What has been achieved is the fruit of the martyrs’ sacrifices, the patience of the wounded, and the steadfastness of the fighters who have written a new page in Sudan’s history book with their blood.” He emphasized that these sacrifices will not be in vain but will yield a strong, secure, and fully sovereign state.
He reassured the people in West Darfur that the government has prepared plans to restore state institutions and services to the liberated areas, ensure the safe return of people to their homes, and enforce the rule of law so that normal life could return to all parts of the state.
He added: “I say to our people: Trust in your forces, for victory is now a reality being made on the ground, not just a promise. And to the militia and those who support it: The countdown to the end of the rebellion has begun, and you will have no choice but to submit to the authority of the state or face defeat.” He continued: “Our pledge to the Sudanese people is that the battle will continue until complete liberation, the restoration of security, and the consolidation of state sovereignty.”
