Halfa – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) and the Sudanese Customs Authority (Wadi Halfa branch) have destroyed approximately 100 tons of various consumer goods that did not meet specifications and were deemed unfit for human consumption.
The violations included defects in the labeling, expired dates, and failure of the analysis results to conform to Sudanese standards.
The Director of Standards in Halfa, Aba Yazid Al-Sheikh, stated that this destruction confirms the state’s commitment to enforcing laws and preventing the circulation of non-compliant products.
He emphasized the continued close coordination with all relevant authorities to ensure the safety and health of products entering the country through border crossings.
Al-Sheikh explained that this step comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and reduce violations. He affirmed the SSMO’s commitment to intensifying efforts and tightening control measures to regulate the movement of goods and protect consumers from health risks.
For its part, the implementing authorities renewed their commitment to applying deterrent laws against violators without leniency, and called on citizens to play their role in supporting oversight efforts by reporting any goods suspected of being unfit for consumption or any violations.
