Exhumation and Reburial of War Remains Continues in Khartoum

For the tenth consecutive day, the exhumation and reburial of war remains, which were forcibly buried near Obeid Khatim Street, south of the Judges’ House, continued in Khartoum locality, Sudan.
Following his inspection of the site on Saturday, the Executive Director of the locality, Abdul-Moneim Al-Bashir, directed that the exhumation and transfer of remains to designated cemeteries be expedited before the onset of the rainy season. The Forensic Medicine Department confirmed that it is intensifying its efforts to complete the work within the specified timeframe, prioritizing densely populated residential areas, markets, and areas along main roads.
In a separate matter, the Executive Director also inspected the rehabilitation work at Jaber Abu Al-Ezz Children’s Diabetes Hospital and Jaber Abu Al-Ezz Adult Diabetes Hospital. He reviewed the initial stages of the maintenance work, which is expected to be completed within three weeks, paving the way for the reopening of these two vital health facilities that serve a large segment of the population, including children with diabetes.
The Executive Director also inspected the maintenance and removal of irregular building erected on Mohamed Naguib Street, which included the removal of burned and destroyed kiosks and commercial sites, in addition to the reinstallation of manhole covers for rainwater drainage, where he praised the work that coincides with the implementation of the autumn emergency plan for the year 2026.
