Minister of Livestock Confirms Resumption of Meat Exports in September

The Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, met on Sunday with the Higher Committee for the Rehabilitation of Livestock Production Cities, chaired by Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed Hussein.

During the meeting, the Minister confirmed the resumption of meat exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on September 1st of this year.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop the livestock sector in the country and enhance its role in the national economy.

He also noted the ongoing rehabilitation and modernization of slaughterhouses and processing facilities in accordance with international standards and requirements, in cooperation with the private sector and banks.

For her part, Dr. Hiba Sayed Ahmed, head of the Higher Committee for the Rehabilitation of Livestock Production Cities, explained that the committee has been working on several items, including reviewing inspection procedures and rehabilitating and revitalizing slaughterhouses for meat exports to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. She indicated that the committee conducted field visits to the Al-Kadaru and Shaheen slaughterhouses in Khartoum State and the Tala slaughterhouse in River Nile State, where they confirmed that these facilities meet the standards of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
