UNSC to Hold Session on Abyei

The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold a regular meeting on Thursday, to discuss developments in the Abyei area, as part of its ongoing monitoring of the situation, particularly regarding security and stability.
According to sources, the meeting will address the work of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), as well as humanitarian issues and the protection of civilians.
UN representatives are expected to provide their regular briefings during the session, which will include detailed reports on the security situation on the ground, tribal tensions, and military movements in the region, in addition to an assessment of the UN mission’s performance and a review of the international forces’ operations.
