The President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has renewed the solidarity of the government and people of Sudan with the Palestinian people.
General Al Burhan commended the steadfastness, just and legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people and their right to establish their own independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Addressing the activities of the joint Arab-Islamic summit which was convened in Riyadh on Monday Al Burhan has stressed that that a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East region will not be achieved except by ending the Israeli occupation of all occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan Heights.
He said this should be in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and what has been stipulated in the Arab Peace Initiative adopted in 2002.
“We join our voice with you all in appealing to the international community to accelerate the implementation of the two-state solution, cease fire, prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region, stop the forced displacement of the people of Gaza, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the displaced and refugees.” Al Burhan told the Summit session, Monday.
He added in his statement before the summit that “despite the circumstances and challenges Sudan faces, he was keen to attend the summit due to Sudan’s keenness and firm belief in joint action, cooperation and solidarity with all countries and institutions to achieve security, stability and peace for the peoples of the region. He said this could not be achieved except by combining and integrating efforts and sincere intentions to resolve conflicts and overcome crises.
Al-Burhan appreciated the pioneering and growing role played by Riyadh in supporting and backing Arab, Islamic and humanitarian causes in all parts of the world, including in Sudan, its position in support of the Palestinian cause and its tireless efforts to stop the current Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, southern Lebanon and Syrian territories.
Regarding the war waged by the Rapid Support Militia against the Sudanese people, the President of the Sovereign Council has stressed that this was a war of aggression whose aim was to destroy the Sudanese state and starve and displace the Sudanese people in a blatant challenge to international humanitarian law and international charters and norms.
He said the militias have committed crimes not less, but rather, more evil than the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza and Lebanon.
He stressed that the great Sudanese people, armed with their history and civilization, and the support and assistance of their brothers and friends, will survive the current challenges and reach safety.
He praised the Kingdom for its role in serving Arab and Islamic nations’ causes.
Al-Burhan stressed Sudan’s readiness to work with its brothers to end all disputes and conflicts anywhere.
