Minsk – Sudanhorizon
The joint Sudanese-Belarusian ministerial committee is set to sign a package of agreements on Thursday, encompassing cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, new and renewable energy, tractor and agricultural machinery manufacturing, fertilizers, dairy, and processing industries.
The agreements also cover industrial localization, technology transfer, training, and capacity building.
This agreement follows meetings of the joint technical committee in Minsk, where draft agreements were discussed in depth, necessary amendments were introduced, and the minutes of the fifth meeting were approved in preparation for submission to the ministerial meeting. The Belarusian side expressed its readiness and strong desire for joint work, in accordance with the directives of President Alexander Lukashenko.
Within the framework of these understandings, the Development Bank of Belarus approved the Sudanese side’s proposals to finance food security projects, which include the construction of 18 grain silos and the establishment of an assembly line for Belarusian tractors in Sudan. These proposals will be formalized through an export financing credit agreement scheduled to be signed tomorrow.
The Sudanese delegation, led by Minister of Energy Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim, also held separate meetings with the Belarusian Ministers of Energy and Industry and other senior officials, where they agreed to develop technical and industrial cooperation to the benefit of both countries.
The Sudanese representatives participating in the fifth session of the Joint Committee, headed by the Minister of Energy and the head of the delegation, and including the Minister of State for Finance and Omar Al-Amin Jibril, the Sudanese Ambassador to Belarus, continued their intensive activities with field visits to the Minsk Tractor Plant, the MTZ Bus Plant, and a biotechnology company.
The delegation, accompanied by the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Belarus, was debriefed on Belarusian experience in food, feed, and fertilizer production, as well as the construction of silos. Agreement was reached on strengthening the partnership and developing field cooperation between the two countries.
