Doctors: 14 Killed and Injured in Militia Shelling of Kosti

Kosti – Sudanhorizon

The Sudan Doctors Network announced on Tuesday that five people were killed and nine others injured following a drone attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia targeting two fuel stations in the city of Kosti, White Nile State.

In a statement, the network described the deliberate drone attack as part of the repeated targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure relied upon by citizens in their daily lives, in clear violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and civilian objects.

The network strongly condemned this direct targeting, stating that it reflects a blatant disregard for civilian lives and exacerbates their suffering amid worsening humanitarian conditions. It added that the continuation of such attacks deepens both health and living crises and undermines all efforts aimed at providing even the minimum level of essential services to citizens under the current circumstances.

The network called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding these grave violations and to work toward holding the leaders of the Rapid Support Forces accountable for crimes committed against civilians. It also stressed the importance of applying real and effective pressure to halt the targeting of infrastructure and ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international conventions and laws.
