Australian Parliament Briefed on latest Developments in Sudan

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Australia, Ahmed Salah Bayoumi, briefed the Speaker of the Australian Parliament, Mellon Dick, Monday, on the latest developments in Sudan at the Parliament building in Canberra. He also outlined the Sudanese government’s initiative to achieve comprehensive peace and expressed gratitude to the Australian Parliament and government for their humanitarian support to the Sudanese people.
The Chargé d’Affaires emphasized the Sudanese government’s commitment to achieving a just and sustainable peace, in accordance with the roadmap presented by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council in March 2025, and the subsequent peace initiative proposed by the Prime Minister in December 2025.
He said Sudan has furthermore welcomed all regional and international efforts supporting this roadmap and affirmed the Sudanese government’s readiness to engage constructively with any serious initiative that respects Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The Chargé d’Affaires reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, opening humanitarian corridors, and its ongoing efforts to ensure aid reaches those affected throughout Sudan. He also affirmed the government’s commitment to coordinating with relief organizations operating in Sudan in accordance with international humanitarian law.
For his part, the Speaker of the Australian Parliament affirmed his country’s support for the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan. He expressed his hope that the Sudanese Parliament would resume its active role in consolidating stability in Sudan and its regional and international environment. He also commended the active and positive Sudanese presence in Australia, particularly in the state of Queensland, from which he was elected.
