The Federal Ministry of Finance (General Administration of External Financing) organized a workshop in Port Sudan on Wednesday, in cooperation and coordination with the African Development Bank, to review the performance of Sudan’s Country Portfolio (CPPR).

The workshop was attended by representatives of the African Development Bank, United Nations agencies, and several ministries, including Agriculture, Education, Health, Human Resources and Social Welfare, in addition to the Higher Council for Environment, the Drinking Water Unit, and the National Audit Chamber.

Ikhlas Mohamed Ali, Director General of the General Administration of External Financing, affirmed that the workshop represents an important milestone for strengthening partnership with the African Development Bank and assessing the progress of development projects amid the exceptional circumstances facing the country.

She noted that the total active financing within the portfolio exceeds 500 million dollars, distributed across strategic sectors aimed at improving livelihoods and basic services. She added that a flexible approach has been adopted based on restructuring projects to align with operational realities, which has yielded positive results in agricultural, social, and health sectors.

For his part, the Country Manager of the African Development Bank Group in Sudan, David Mutoka, explained that performance reviews are a regular joint process aimed at evaluating project quality and drawing lessons to address weaknesses hindering implementation.

He called for ensuring that work is carried out efficiently in accordance with the bank’s policies and applicable laws, affirming the continuation of the partnership to support economic development.

The workshop also featured technical presentations on the portfolio’s performance for the years 2024–2025, as well as a review of procurement systems and financial management.
