Founder of Rizeigat General Coordination: The Mahamid Defections Have Shaken the Militia

The founder of the Rizeigat General Coordination, Al-Daif Issa Aliyu, has stated that the recent defections within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia will have a significant impact on its ranks and files.
In an exclusive statement Aliyu explained that Al-Nur Al-Qubba and Ali Rizqallah, known as “Al-Safana,” are considered heavyweights within the RSF militias as fierce fighters. He noted that Al-Qubba was a commander in the Border Guard Forces, which Hemedti absorbed into the RSF.

Aliyu added that Al-Safana was originally a member of armed movements and a well-known leader before being integrated into the armed forces with the rank of major. He explained that when Sheikh Musa Hilal’s first clash with the RSF began and he was arrested, Al-Safana rebelled again before being arrested by the RSF and imprisoned alongside Sheikh Musa Hilal.
Aliyu pointed out that after the outbreak of the April 15th war, Al-Safana cooperated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after being enticed by Hemedti. He emphasized that Al-Safana’s defection, along with other defections, is causing a severe upheaval within the RSF. He noted that Sheikh Musa Hilal had already defected, and added that all these leaders belong to the Mahamid branch of the Rizeigat tribe. This signifies the departure of prominent Mahamid leaders, and perhaps others will follow. He believed that the final straw in this process was the attack on Sheikh Musa Hilal’s encampment in Mustariha.
Aliyu believes that the military leaders from the Mahariya have not yet responded, and that the matter requires significant efforts from the state, given that the Mahariya represent the “spearhead” in this war. He explained that most of the fighters currently in the field belong to the Mahariya, especially from East Darfur State. He said that more efforts are needed to neutralize the fighters from the government, noting that these defections will cause a shake-up within the Rapid Support Forces. However, he added that the war will continue unless prominent leaders of the fighters and the local leaders from the Mahariya are neutralized. He added that all the components “Nawaiba, Mahamid, Mahariya, and Ariqat” belong to the Rizeigat tribe, but there are internal details and complexities that only the tribe’s own members know.
