Sudanese and Egyptian Customs Sign Joint Cooperation Protocol

The Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday witnessed the signing of a new cooperation protocol between the Sudanese Customs Forces and the Egyptian Customs Authority, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional partnership between the two sides.
The protocol focuses on supporting training programs, capacity building, and the exchange of technical and administrative expertise in customs work, through activating the partnership with the Alexandria Customs Institute as a specialized platform for developing human resources.
In his speech at the signing ceremony, the Director General of the Sudanese Customs Forces, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, affirmed that customs relations between Sudan and Egypt are based on deep historical roots and long-standing ties between the two brotherly peoples.
He pointed out that cooperation in the fields of training and capacity building began decades ago and has contributed to qualifying generations of Sudanese customs personnel at the hands of Egyptian experts.
He added that the new protocol opens broader horizons for benefiting from modern expertise and technologies, which will support the development of institutional performance and enhance the efficiency of customs work in both countries.
For his part, the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority emphasized that the protocol embodies the depth of Egyptian-Sudanese relations and underscores Cairo’s commitment to supporting institutional development efforts within customs authorities in the region, serving mutual interests and contributing to streamlining procedures and enhancing economic integration.
He explained that the new partnership represents a significant step forward in knowledge transfer and strengthening institutional capabilities, keeping pace with the rapid developments in customs operations and solidifying the foundations for sustainable cooperation between the two sides.
