UK-based Darfuri Associations: Condemns Civilians Killing. Calls for Designating RSF Terrorist Organization
London – Sudanhorizon
The Darfuri Associations in the UK have strongly condemned the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)militia’s targeting of displaced people fleeing conflict zones in North Kordofan using drones to kill at least 24 civilians, including women and children.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the association described the attacks and targeting of humanitarian aid convoys as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a full-fledged war crime that demonstrates a complete disregard for civilian lives.
The association warned against attempts to repeat the scenarios of genocide and ethnic cleansing previously witnessed in Darfur and transfer them to Kordofan, holding the UAE and the militia responsible for exacerbating the suffering of millions and obstructing the delivery of life-saving aid.
The group issued a direct appeal to the British government to use its diplomatic leverage to pressure its ally, the UAE, to cease supporting the militia. It also demanded that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) be designated a terrorist organization and that pressure on African political actors to remain neutral on the crisis be ended.
The group announced a major lobbying event at the British Parliament on Wednesday, February 11, to debrief parliamentarians on the ongoing violations in Kordofan and Darfur. It called on the Sudanese community in the UK to intensify their outreach to their constituents in Parliament to amplify the voices of the victims and demand an end to the genocide and the achievement of international justice.
