Indian PM Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salim, at his residence in the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Saturday. The minister is visiting India to participate in the Arab–Indian Ministerial Meeting organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in cooperation with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of the Sudanese Prime Minister to his Indian counterpart and expressed Sudan’s appreciation for its long-standing historical relations with India. He also conveyed the gratitude of the Sudanese government and people for the support provided by India during the difficult circumstances the country is currently experiencing.

According to the Sudan News Agency, the Foreign Minister briefed the Indian Prime Minister on developments in Sudan and the overall situation in the country, including the Government of Hope’s peace initiative and the return of the government to the capital, Khartoum. He affirmed Sudan’s aspiration to build a strategic partnership with India during the reconstruction phase by activating bilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two foreign ministries, based on the outcomes of his meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister the previous day.

Minister Mohi El-Din Salim expressed his hope that the ongoing efforts and bilateral discussions would culminate in the exchange of high-level visits between officials of both countries across various sectors.

For his part, the Indian Prime Minister conveyed his greetings to his Sudanese counterpart through the Foreign Minister and affirmed India’s readiness to cooperate with Sudan in all fields. He emphasized India’s interest in strengthening cooperation with partners and friends in the African continent in pursuit of shared development goals, reaffirming India’s commitment to its engagement with Sudan and its openness to further diplomatic consultations to enhance cooperation across official and popular sectors.
