Prince Turki Al-Faisal: Prince MBS Resisted US Pressure on Normalisation

Former head of Saudi intelligence Turki Al-Faisal has confirmed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman resisted American pressure regarding normalisation with Israel.
In an opinion article published on Friday in the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, Prince Turki Al-Faisal stated that “the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the United States was crowned with every measure of success”.
He explained that, in addition to the agreements concluded by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, “he was able to break the constraints that had restricted those agreements from the American side by making consideration of Israel’s interests a condition”.
Al-Faisal noted that the Saudi Crown Prince received from US President Donald Trump a “publicly declared promise that the Kingdom would obtain the best that American factories produce”.
In his article, the Saudi prince also highlighted that “President Trump is cooperating with the Crown Prince to establish a nuclear industry in the Kingdom, given the existence of a large uranium reserve there”.
The former intelligence chief argued that, as a result, “Israel found its preferential status with the US administration had declined—an advantage it had enjoyed for decades”. He added: “In addition to Prince Mohammed resisting pressure regarding normalisation with Israel, he has openly insisted that the Palestinians must obtain their own state before any normalisation with Israel can take place.”
