In celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Sudanese mobile telecommunications company “Zain,” in partnership with volunteers from the charitable initiative “Fakka Reeg,” launched the “Eid Joy” project at Ahmed Qasim Children’s Hospital, the Girls’ Shelter Home, and the Sudanese National Federation of the Blind, as part of efforts to strengthen social responsibility and support the groups most affected by the consequences of the war that has been ongoing since April 15, 2023.
The project began on the first day of Eid al-Adha at the Girls’ Shelter Home in Omdurman and will conclude on the third day at Ahmed Qasim Children’s Hospital in Khartoum North and the Sudanese National Federation of the Blind. The initiative includes the distribution of meat and sacrificial supplies to beneficiaries, alongside interactive and meaningful activities aimed at strengthening family belonging, improving psychological stability, and reinforcing the values of solidarity and human connection amid the current circumstances.

In an official statement, “Zain” explained that the “Eid Joy” project represents a continuation of a humanitarian initiative the company launched in 2012, which has continued uninterrupted even after the outbreak of the war. Over the years, the project has targeted several care homes and hospitals in Khartoum State, including the Blind Home, the Elderly Care Home, the Maygoma Home for orphaned children, in addition to children’s hospitals in various areas.
The company confirmed that the project falls within its corporate social responsibility program aimed at promoting social integration and supporting vulnerable groups, especially during times of crisis.
For her part, Professor Rabab Al-Badri from the Corporate Sustainability Department stated that the projects continuously carried out by Zain in partnership with several initiatives have gone beyond seasonal charitable work to become an integrated institutional model that combines financial and logistical support on one hand with volunteer efforts and humanitarian values on the other.

She added that the “Eid Joy” initiative, currently being implemented in cooperation with the “Fakka Reeg” initiative, primarily seeks to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons and war-affected individuals who have lost their support systems and shelter. She stressed that coordination between the private sector and volunteer initiatives is a fundamental pillar of an effective humanitarian response.
The project is considered an extension of Zain’s policy of giving special attention to vulnerable and underprivileged groups, stemming from its deeply rooted institutional values and its belief in the role of the private sector in achieving comprehensive development and social cohesion. The company renewed its commitment to contributing to alleviating the humanitarian and social impacts of crises and to promoting the values of solidarity and compassion within Sudanese society.
