WB Ready to Intervene to Assist Sudan during Emergency in next two months
World Bank President Ajayi Banga has affirmed his readiness to urgently intervene in Sudan within the next two months to support with reconstruction and economic recovery projects, particularly in the health, education, and environment sectors, as part of the World Bank’s efforts to support Sudan.
This came during the Arab Group meetings on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting held in Washington from October 13- 18.
For his part, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and head of the delegation, Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, have explained during the meeting with the World Bank President on the sidelines of the annual meetings, in the presence of Mohamed Bashar, Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry, and the accompanying delegation.
He explained that Sudan is currently moving towards civilian transition and is working to implement economic and institutional reforms that would support the transition and enhance reconstruction and economic recovery efforts.
The meetings of the African Group of Countries at the World Bank witnessed the announcement of the World Bank President’s initiative on infrastructure investment to support the transformation of the agricultural sector and create sustainable jobs, through partnerships between the private sector and small farmers, aiming to reach 250 million farmers by 2030
