The Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on Tuesday chaired an emergency meeting of the Security and Defense Council held in the presence of its full members, in the national capital Khartoum. The meeting addressed developments in the security situation in the country.

A statement issued by the Khartoum State Media Office indicated that the meeting focused on the political, military, and security situation on all areas of engagements in the country. It also reviewed the grave and unprecedented violations committed by the rebel militia against unarmed civilians in El Fasher, violations condemned by the international community.

It said these developments took place while world organizations, particularly the United Nations, failed to implement their resolutions that ban any shipment of weapons to Darfur and calls for lifting the siege on El Fasher.

The meeting also addressed the humanitarian situation in the country, security threats, and preparations for current and future operations.

It further discussed initiatives presented by some countries and friendly nations. The meeting concluded by welcoming the sincere efforts aimed at ending the suffering of the Sudanese people, a suffering perpetrated by the rebel terrorist militia.

The meeting also expressed its gratitude to the United States Administration, represented by Presidential Advisor Massad Boulos , for the commendable efforts. The Council welcomed any effort that contributes to ending the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The meeting called for the mobilization of the Sudanese people to support the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in eliminating the rebel militia, as part of the state’s general mobilization efforts.

It emphasized the importance of the Sudanese government presenting its vision for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, supporting humanitarian work, and restoring security and peace throughout the country. A committee was formed and tasked with drafting the said vision.
