Sudan’s Gold Production Scores 70 Tons This Year

The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company on Sunday said this year’s gold production has reached 70 tons, scoring 113% of the target for 2025, the highest production level in five years.
The announcement came during the approval by the company’s board of directors, in a meeting chaired by the Minister of Minerals, of the 2025 performance report and the draft plan and budget for the fiscal 2026.
The 2025 performance report revealed exceptionally positive results in both financial and production areas, with total revenues reaching 1.087 trillion Sudanese pounds, representing 132% of the planned target for the year.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors and Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Taha, has stressed the need for redoubling efforts during 2026 to continue this track record of achievements.
He also called for inclusion of national projects in the 2026 plan to develop the country’s mining sector.
The Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Tahir Omar, has meanwhile affirmed the company’s commitment to its vision of remaining a major contributor to the national economy. He commended the significant efforts of the company’s employees and the strong coordination with relevant stakeholders.
The meeting reviewed a comprehensive evaluation of operational projects, focusing on the objectives of the 2026 plan. This plan adopts an ambitious national strategy centered on completing the digitization of all operations and improving corporate governance, developing the sector, strengthening oversight to ensure efficiency, raising public awareness of environmental safety issues in mining areas, and building trust with partners to position the sector as an attractive destination for major investments and maximize its contribution to the national economy.
