Sudan Discusses EU Role in Supporting Infrastructure Projects

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, discussed its role in supporting infrastructure projects in the Horn of Africa Initiative countries with the European Union, focusing on electricity grid connectivity, roads, and railways linking the countries of the region.
This came during a meeting between the Sudanese Minister of Finance and the European Union’s Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, in the presence of Luca Mihi, Political Advisor at the EU Office in Port Sudan Thursday.

The two sides discussed efforts to achieve peace and end the war the expected support from the European Union for reconstruction projects after the cessation of war and the achievement of peace in Sudan.

The Minister praised the European Union’s efforts to establish peace, and achieve stability, and development in the Horn of Africa countries by supporting infrastructure projects in those countries. He also commended the African Union’s initiative to develop a reconstruction plan for Sudan after peace was achieved.

It is worth noting that the Horn of Africa Initiative, which includes Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, and South Sudan, Its last ministerial-level meeting was held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on February 17.
