Sudan’s Ambassador Explains Ethiopian Aggression to Rwanda

Kigali – Sudanhorizon

Sudan’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Khalid Musa, met on Tuesday with the Permanent Secretary of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madeleine Muronko, and briefed him on the developments of what he described as the Ethiopian-Emirati aggression against Sudan.

During the meeting, Musa reviewed the course of this aggression through its various stages, beginning with the establishment of camps on the shared border last year, continuing with the recruitment of mercenaries, and culminating in the attack targeting Kurmuk, in addition to what he described as the targeting of civilians and Khartoum Airport by drones launched from within Ethiopian national territory.

Musa emphasized that the Sudanese government considers what has occurred to be an external aggression led by Ethiopia and the UAE, stressing that Sudan reserves its right to respond and defend itself in accordance with the UN Charter.

The ambassador also pointed out to the statements made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces, as well as the legal and diplomatic measures taken by the government, including recalling the ambassador for consultations and filing official complaints with UN bodies and regional and international organizations. He called on the Rwandan side to condemn this aggression and support Sudan’s actions within regional and international frameworks.

For his part, the Permanent Undersecretary of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his country’s regret over the events, affirming Rwanda’s support for Sudan, its people, and its sovereignty, and calling for the achievement of peace.

The Rwandan official indicated that he would forward the memorandum submitted by the Sudanese mission to the country’s leadership, reiterating his country’s commitment to respecting Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, the safety of its people, and its stability.
