Sudan and IsDB Sign Roadmap Agreement

Sudan’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Counselor Mohamed Nour Abdeldaim, signed today (Friday), on behalf of the Sudanese government, a roadmap with the Islamic Development Bank Group to strengthen cooperation and address Sudan’s outstanding arrears, concluding talks held in Jeddah.

The talks between the Sudanese government delegation and the Islamic Development Bank Group in Jeddah took place from August 24 to 27, 2026. The delegation also met with two Vice Presidents of the Bank Group to review the outcomes of the meetings and discuss support for Sudan’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The roadmap aims to continue technical work and consultations toward reaching a practical and sustainable settlement of Sudan’s arrears before the end of 2026, while creating conditions for the resumption and enhancement of development cooperation.

The discussions also covered areas including technical assistance, capacity building, private-sector development, small and medium-sized enterprises, digital transformation, recovery and reconstruction, as well as a proposal to establish a trust fund for the reconstruction of Sudan.

Both sides affirmed that the next phase would see an expansion of Sudan’s access to the programs and instruments of the Islamic Development Bank Group, supporting the country’s economic and development priorities as well as its recovery and reconstruction efforts.
