Sudanese Meteorological Authority Issues Red Alert

The Sudanese Meteorological Authority on Sunday issued a red alert warning of extremely high risk conditions requiring immediate action in western Red Sea State, northern River Nile State, and the Northern State, where a significant rise in temperatures is expected.
The authority said the extreme heat wave is forecast to begin on Monday at 12:00 p.m. and continue until Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
The Meteorological Authority urged citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight for extended periods.
It also warned that excessive heat exposure may cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke, advising people to drink plenty of water and avoid outdoor activities during peak daytime hours.
The authority further stressed the importance of following safety instructions and guidance issued by the relevant authorities to protect personal and public safety, while also encouraging the public to stay updated on weather forecasts regularly.
