Sudanese Doctors: 29 Civilians Killed and Injured in Militia Attack on El Obeid

El Obeid – Sudanhorizon

The Sudanese Doctors Network announced that 7 people were killed and 22 others injured with varying degrees of wounds after the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan came under attack on Saturday by suicide drones targeting residential neighborhoods.

In a statement, the network condemned what it described as the deliberate targeting of densely populated civilian areas by the Rapid Support Forces, asserting that the attack was not aimed at achieving military objectives but rather at causing the highest possible number of civilian casualties. It described the incident as a grave violation of humanitarian and international laws and norms, reflecting a clear disregard for civilian lives amid the country’s deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions.

The network held the militia leadership fully responsible for these violations, calling on the international community and humanitarian organizations to exert pressure to stop the repeated attacks and ensure the protection of civilians. It also urged relevant authorities to support health institutions in El Obeid with necessary medical supplies and personnel to handle the increasing number of casualties and prevent further deterioration of the health situation.
