Sudanese Consultations with the AU’s PSC to Prepare for Dialogue

Addis Ababa – Sudanhorizon

Preliminary meetings for the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue process commenced on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the auspices of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC).
According to sources who spoke to Sudanhorizon from within the meeting, the discussions focused on launching a political process to resolve the country’s crisis.
The high-level AU mechanism engages with two separate delegations from political and civil forces to discuss the steps, procedures, and issues to be addressed in the dialogue and how to prepare for the process.
Sudanhorizon learned that the first meeting included political and civil forces that had submitted their national vision to the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. A second meeting is set to be held with representatives of political forces within an alliance led by Abdullah Hamdok, which recently split from the political bloc known as Taqaddum (Progress).
The African Union had previously held a consultation session with political forces in July of last year, which was boycotted by the Taqaddum group and did not include invitations to many other political forces.
