The Sudanese government has called on the international community to classify the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a “terrorist organization” and condemned the killing and injury of dozens of civilians this morning (Saturday) in a bombardment by the militia on Omdurman.
In a press statement reviewed by the Sudanhorizon news website, the official spokesperson for the Sudanese government and Minister of Culture and Information, Khalid Aleiser, stated: “The Sudanese government calls on the international community and human rights organizations to classify this militia as a terrorist organization and to hold accountable those responsible for the mass killings and this heinous crime, foremost among them the fugitive rebel Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), as well as the countries supplying him, his militia, and mercenaries with the weapons that have claimed the lives of innocent civilians.”
He added: “At the same time, we emphasize the necessity of protecting civilians at all times and in all regions of Sudan, ensuring they are not exposed to any threats.”
Aleister continued: “We strongly condemn the treacherous terrorist attack carried out by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia on the Sabrin market in Omdurman city today (Saturday), which resulted in a large number of innocent civilian casualties, including children, women, and the elderly, in addition to widespread destruction of private and public property.”
