Sudan Begins Exporting Meat to Kuwait

The Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries announced on Sunday the start of actual exports of Sudanese meat to Kuwait.

Director General of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries’ General Department of Quarantine and Meat Health, Dr. Hussein Mohammed Al-Bashir, revealed that exports to Kuwait have officially begun as a first step toward expanding into Gulf markets.

The announcement came during the first coordination meeting of heads of inspection departments and quality officials at export slaughterhouses, organized by the General Department of Quarantine and Meat Health under the theme, “Unified Procedures – Effective Oversight – Safe Meat,” under the patronage of Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri.

Al-Bashir announced that seven slaughterhouses are currently ready and comply with approved health requirements, with a focus on activating central laboratories to ensure accurate testing. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to international standards in preparation for opening new markets.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources, Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris, said the ministry’s upcoming strategy is based on expanding meat exports and maximizing the use of slaughter by-products through processing and value addition to the national economy.

Al-Sheikh stressed the importance of concerted efforts to rehabilitate slaughterhouses in accordance with international quality standards to ensure the safety of meat both domestically and internationally during the post-war and reconstruction phase.
