Sudan Army Advances in the Centre of the Capital
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese army forces have advanced towards the center of the capital Khartoum since dawn today, on Saturday, in an operation aimed at regaining control of strategic sites in the country’s capital.
Since dawn on Thursday, September 26, the army forces, the General Intelligence Service’s Counter-Terrorism Authority, and special support groups have crossed 3 main bridges in the capital, which led to them retaking areas that had been controlled by the Rapid Support Militia since the beginning of the war in Sudan.
According to informed field sources who spoke to the Sudanhorizon news website, the army forces have been able, during the past few days, to remove obstacles in the Maqran Al-Nilein area in Khartoum and eliminate the militia snipers’ positions, which enabled them to make significant progress.
The sources stated: “The opening of the Signal Corps forces in Khartoum Bahri for the first time and their control over the “Aboud Garden”, in addition to the movement of the Armored Corps forces north towards the Lamab and Al-Rumaila areas in Khartoum.
The operation in Khartoum Bahri aims to link the army camps in both the Signal Corps and the General Command in Khartoum with the army forces coming from Karari via the Halfaya Bridge in preparation for connecting all the military divisions and army weapons in Khartoum State together.
The sources indicated the acceleration of the collapse of the Rapid Support Militia, and the beginning of some of its fighters infiltrating outside Khartoum State amid the advance of the Sudanese army.
