Dr Mohieddin Naeem, Minister of Energy and Oil, will lead a delegation from the oil and electricity sectors to China at the end of August to sign several agreements in these fields.
The minister emphasised his ministry’s commitment to the visit’s success in restoring the oil sector to its former glory and advancing the electricity sector in Sudan, especially in the area of renewable energies such as wind and solar power.
The minister met today (Monday) with the Chinese chargé d’affaires in Sudan in the presence of the Chinese commercial attaché. The meeting discussed preparations for the visit, the largest of its kind in years.
Naeem stated, “We will present several cooperation files, including vacant blocks for investment in oil and natural gas, in addition to building a new refinery in Port Sudan, rehabilitating the Khartoum refinery, and repairing power stations damaged by the war and attacks by the RSF militia. China is considered a strategic partner for Sudan in the oil sector.”
The Chinese chargé d’affaires affirmed the embassy’s commitment and efforts for joint coordination to ensure the visit’s success and achieve its desired goals, highlighting the deep relations between the two countries, particularly in the oil and electricity sectors.
